Cross
Cultural Relationship Management
The
workshop would look at cultural differences involved when on
overseas visits including expectations in behavior when doing
business. The session would cover protocol issues when hosting
guests from other countries, including international government
officials and institutional representatives. It would look at the
ways in which business is conducted and negotiations are made.
Consideration will also be given to the idea of ¡¥cultural
intelligence¡¦ which is of particular relevance in the context of
international relations.

Annual
Conference - From Access to Success: Closing The Knowledge Divide
The
annual conference represents a unique international experience of
diversity in action. Hosted each year by a different member
institution or organization, the conference brings together
policy-makers, academics, practitioners, researchers, and
administrators from around the world to address key issues in access
and widening participation, diversity and inclusion. It also engages
the participation of students, student support services, student
organizations and employers.

Beyond
Old Marketing and E-Marketing
Participants will be expected to develop an understanding of a full
spectrum of marketing approaches available to them today in the
education industry ¡V many of which have gone beyond traditional
offline and online marketing methods. These approaches are now
accessible to institutions only through the explosion of virtual
communities and the rapid rate of technology adoption. Participants
will also gain an insight into how their target demographics have
changed in information hunting behavior and in the decision-making
process of selecting overseas institutions for future study.
Participants will also be supplied with take-home material to guide
them through the process of applying what they have learnt at the
workshop in forming or improving a holistic marketing strategy for

Critical Success Factor in engaging with international Alumni
The
workshop¡¦s target audience includes higher education, staff who
works in international relations in recruitment or marketing roles
in a faculty, school, and centre of international office.
Staff
can be new to international alumni relations and to universities,
and do not have to have worked with international alumni before.
Outcomes:
Establishing international volunteer programs; pitfalls; benefits;
managing expectations and developing mutually beneficial
partnerships; using new technologies to manage relationships.

Managing an International Career Service
At the
conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to identify
the role of the international careers counselor and the particular
needs of international students in their institutions, and which
services might be offered for both postgraduate and undergraduate
students. Best practice models of careers services for post graduate
and undergraduate international students in higher education will be
addressed. Participants will also receive an introduction to the
financial, legal, management and organizational aspects of offering
an international careers service. The role of work placements,
internships, projects and other pre employment opportunities offered
to students during their academic program will also be covered.

On
completion of the workshop, participants will gain practical
knowledge and skills to help them become more effective
international recruiters within their institutions. Participants
will gain an overview of each of the broad operational marketing
areas necessary for successful offshore recruitment, including agent

marketing budget, writing an operational marketing plan, and expert
tips on surviving life as a road warrior.

and institutional strategy and policy supporting the further

national advisory body serving the interests of international
students and those who work with them.

The
conference is intended to be a forum, discussion and networking
place for academics, researchers, professionals, administrators,
educational leaders, policy makers and industry representatives
interested in Education. The languages of the conference will be

Business Intelligence: Using the data
This
workshop aims to acquaint participants with the multitude of data
and information sources relevant to the international student
industry for undertaking analysis and interpretation of industry and
sector-specific data to facilitate understanding of market trends
and future demand patterns in the business of international
education.

ways in which they can be used to build knowledge and skills through
appropriate analysis.

Participants will engage with leading practitioners and peers
through a range of short presentations, case studies, facilitated
interactive discussions, and interactive group work.

Internationalization of the Curriculum
Together the formal and the informal curriculum shape the lived
experience of the student ¡V simultaneously defining their present
learning and creating future opportunities for them within an
increasingly connected and globalize society. This symposium brings
together keynote speakers and invited practitioners from the higher
education. A number of presenters will also share practical
strategies that have worked for them as they have sought to
internationalize the curriculum in a variety of contexts. There will
be a strong focus throughout the day on sharing experiences and
learning from and with each other.
